The National Air and Space Museum will be hosting it’s annual Kites of Asia Heritage Family Day on Saturday, March 19 from 10:00am-3:00pm. Bring your young children to the museum for a day of viewing beautiful kites fly inside the museum, Flights of Fancy Story Time, Indian Kite Stories and Dress-Up and hands-on stations for making kites. Check out the events of the day that work with your schedule.

Before coming to the museum, you can start giving your children opportunities to think about the science of air. Begin asking them “What is air?” “What do we know about air?” Blow through a straw onto your hand. What do you notice? Do we see air? When can we see air? How does air make things move and change? (think about balloons, windmills, leaves swaying, bubbles, and kites!)

Another great way to explore air is by exploring water! The science of water and air go hand in hand. Check out our Science Concepts for more information!

We hope to see you on March 19!
